Directions:
From Interstate I-55, take the Lakeland Drive exit (#98B). Go East to the first traffic light (Cool Papa Bell Drive) and turn left.
Entering the parking area, go to the extreme far left and cross the wooden pedestrian bridge to the Jim Buck Ross Building for the start point.
Jackson, Mississippi -
START/FINISH: Check in at the museum at 1150 Lakeland Drive. All participants must plan to finish before the center closes.
DISTANCE: 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles)
TRAIL RATING: 2+ - This is a moderate walk through LeFleur's Bluff State Park, residential neighborhoods and Belhaven College. There are some inclines and steps on the route. The trail is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
ELIGIBILITY: The event is open to the public and family participation is encouraged. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are NOT allowed on the trail. You may walk, run or jog the course at your own pace -- not a contest, just complete the walk and enjoy the sights!
PROCEDURE: Follow the instructions in the notebook at the registration point (Mississippi Agriculture Museum). Each participant will pick up a start card and map with the checkpoints marked. Travel the mapped route at your own pace. Validate your start cards at each checkpoint along the way. Place the completed start card and fee ($3 each, $2 for MSVC members) in the SASE envelope provided and mail.
AWARDS: This walk is for credit only. There are a limited quantity of extra B patches available of the old State Capitol Building and of the new State Capitol Building.
